From national top athletes to talented youngsters – the DTB has named its national squad for the current year. The nominations reflect the diversity of top-class sport in Germany and divide a total of 54 players into the Olympic squad, the prospective squad and the junior squad 1.
Laura Siegemund is the only female member of the German Olympic squad. In 2023, she won three doubles titles on the WTA Tour and crowned the year with victory at the WTA Finals. The men’s squad includes three male professionals, Alexander Zverev and doubles players Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz. They are also the absolute best in the world, which is a basic prerequisite for inclusion in the top squad.
All of the country’s other top players were nominated for the prospective squad according to DOSB criteria. The squad includes seasoned national players such as Angelique Kerber and Jan-Lennard Struff as well as the new generation of the Porsche Team Germany with Jule Niemeier and Eva Lys. Also in the squad is Marco Topo, a player from MTTC Iphtitos!
The 2009 juniors are gradually following in the footsteps of their idols. It is particularly pleasing that Iphi junior Marco Ontiveros has been nominated for the junior squad 1. Ontiveros won the DJM Junior U14 title on clay and reached the World Team Championship semi-finals with Eric Müller.
In addition, there is the junior squad 2, in which the 52 most promising talents from the state squads are managed and invited to regular DTB training courses.
